Another important factor in maintaining health is a balanced diet, which has been shown to be significantly associated with a lower incidence of chronic illness and a greater level of overall wellness. In recent years, the connection between obesity and stress has become more pronounced, particularly among women. While research shows a link between obesity and stress, research indicates that the impact of stress on health varies by race and ethnicity, with African-American women experiencing greater levels of stress and depression than white women.
